Connecting Kids with the Outdoors

This event is held for kids who otherwise would not be afforded the opportunity to enjoy the awesome fun of fishing and to learn about fishing equipment, tactics, electronics, locations, and seasonality of individual fish species.

The program is sponsored by the Great Lakes Sport Fishing Group & the Monches Fish and Game Club to give back to local kids who if given the opportunity, would love to go fishing if they had the means, transportation, and mentorship to do it.

Through this cooperative effort, the kids who attend have a great time learning about fishing, meeting new friends, and enjoying the act of catching fish and receive special prizes as parting gifts. This program is designed for kids 15 and under, children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult, and if need be, equipment will be provided if needed.

The day will include:

• Fish Identification
• Fishing Regulations
• How to tie fishing knots
• How to properly cast
• Special fishing techniques
• Fish cleaning will be provided – taught
• Learn about seasonal fishing patterns
• Basic tackle box equipment one should have
